Sikhs protest against Pakistani model posing bareheaded in front of Kartarpur Gurdwara
Islamabad, November 29 (UNI) Angry protests by Sikhs and others in India over a model posing bareheaded and back to revered Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan have forced Pakistani fashion label Mannat to apologize for posting the photos, while Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry asked the model to apologize for the disrespect.
Manjinder Singh Sirsa, chairman of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara management committee and spokesperson Akali Dal, said in tweets that modeling in front of the Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara, one of the holiest shrines in Sikhism where the founder of Sikhism Guru Gobind Singh spent his last years, is an act of desecration.
Sirsa said a Pakistani court had previously issued arrest warrants for a movie star who shot a dance video in a mosque, and called for the same to be done for the female model from Lahore.
He also wrote a letter to Foreign Minister S Jaishankar demanding the intervention of the Indian government in this matter.
Following the upheaval on social media, Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudry said the designer and model should apologize to the Sikh community.
Fashion house Mannat Clothing also apologized for hurting feelings and said it removed all posts and photos from its media channels.
Sirsa said, “Modeling at Sri Kartarpur Sahib is desecration. The Pak court issued an arrest warrant for the star who made a dance video at the mosque; the same must be done against this woman from Lahore as an example of treating all religions as an au pair.
“Otherwise, any discussion of respecting Sikhism is hollow @GovtofPakistan”

RP Singh: National BJP spokesperson said in a tweet:
“Gurdwara in Kartarpur is a place of religious pilgrimage and not a tourist spot. He has certain codes (Rehat Maryada) to respect. People who visit Gurdwaras cannot go bareheaded, cannot smoke, ….. The violation hurts feelings. Please notify the codes, ”he said, marking Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The issue was highlighted by journalist Ravinder Singh Robin, who tweeted about the fashion ad: Sikhs. In addition, the photos were uploaded to social media.
Mannat Clothing took to Instagram to apologize for the misunderstanding and said it was not his intention to hurt religious sentiment and that the photos were sent to them by a third-party blogger.
