Hollyweird: How Channing Tatum went from stripper to model

Her mesmerizing smile. His cheekbones. His hypnotic movements. Before acting and after hanging up her stripper thong, Channing Tatum walked the catwalks in Milan and New York as a model. He walked for brands like Marc Ecko and Sean John, and assaulted campaigns for Abercrombie & Fitch. Tatum’s first modeling concert took place in 2000, with photographer Bruce Weber. On this set, he met the model Karolina Kurkova – not bad for a hardened neophyte. “I was this new guy, one person; she was the first to talk to me,” he said. Busy. And I never want to be without it.”
Despite his success working with Armani and Dolce & Gabbana, Tatum was aiming even higher than a Times Square billboard. In a post-show interview in 2002 with fashion critic Tim Blanks, Tatum expressed his desire to land in Hollywood. “I would love to be an actor,” he says, “[I’m] always looking for new opportunities. “
One of those opportunities, his big break, you might say, was appearing as the shirtless bartender in Ricky Martin’s music video. “She knocks.” He made $ 400 for his time.
